Penny Wise - NOT Pound Foolish

Dear friends of Neumann Family Services,

We are at a critical time in the state of Illinois.

We need to tell the governor to: be "Penny Wise and NOT Pound Foolish" when it comes to funding services for people with developmental disabilities and mental illness in this state. We are asking you to help us to join a campaign to encourage him to pay for community services on a timely basis and to make smart decisions about how to spend money with the emergency spending authority that the legislature has given him.

Human services agencies across the state are participating in this campaign to get the Governor to do the right thing. He needs to know that the citizens of this state care deeply about adequate funding for human services.

Participating in this campaign is easy; all we are asking is for you to sign your name and tape a penny to this flier - icon Dont_Be_Pennywise_and_Pound_Foolish.pdf (16 KB). You can send it directly to the Governor at:

The Honorable Pat QuinnFaye M. signing her letter
Illinois Governor
James R. Thompson Center
100 W. Randolph, 16-100
Chicago, IL 60601

Alternatively, you can drop it off at Neumann and we will mail it off for you.

Additionally, we are asking you to print out copies of the flier for your family and friends.

We will continue to drop these forms off to the governor's office every day until we know that funding for human services is safe.

If you have any questions, please call your program staff for immediate assistance. I would also be happy to address any questions or concerns you may have at: 773.506.3024 or EDurkin@neumannfamilyservices.org.
