History

Sixty years ago, Neumann Family Services was founded by parents who wanted more for their children with intellectual challenges. In 1949 there was no public law requiring special education for people with disabilities, and many families chose to have their children institutionalized. A group of parents contacted Victor C. Neumann, a Logan Square Lion, for assistance to build a school for their children in the neighborhood. The dreams of these few parents have blossomed into an organization that currently supports over 500 addisability pride paradeults with intellectual challenges and mental illness. Neumann Family Services offers a model of service based upon those dreams. Sixty years after our inception, we find ourselves moving back to our roots.  We continue to expand our services to provide innovative residential and employment supports to  individuals with disabilities.  At the same time, we are connecting to families in Chicago and their incredible spirit.
